Emergency Power Restoration for Your Home

Untitled design 1 3

Losing electricity isn’t just inconvenient. It affects your safety, your food storage, and any medical equipment running on home power. When the utility tells you the grid is fine but your house is still dark, the problem is on your side of the meter, and that’s where our team comes in. Kay-Bee Electric provides residential electrical repair service to get your power back on without delay during regular business hours, and we schedule next-business-day for calls that come in after we close.

Common causes of residential power failure we troubleshoot:

Restoring power isn’t just about flipping a switch. It requires real knowledge of residential electrical systems and local building codes. Our certified electricians arrive fully equipped to troubleshoot and fix most issues on the spot. We adhere to rigorous safety protocols and guarantee that all repairs meet or exceed National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements. How a Kay-Bee Power Restoration Call Works

Every call is handled with urgency and professionalism. We treat your home like it’s our own, and that means clean work, honest service, and lasting results. When you call about a residential outage, we ask a short list of diagnostic questions to figure out what’s failed before we drive out, so the truck arrives with the right gear in the bed. The goal is to fix the issue in one visit whenever the parts are available, and to give you a clear written estimate before we start any work that goes beyond the diagnostic.

We understand the urgency that comes with power loss. That’s why local homeowners across Wentzville, Cottleville, Lake St. Louis, and beyond count on us for reliable residential service across St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County. For homeowners who want to prevent the next outage entirely, see our Backup Power page. If the troubleshooting points back to your panel, see Panel Replacement. For commercial after-hours contract service, see 24-Hour Emergency Services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t stay in the dark. Call (314) 837-3308 or book online to schedule a residential service call across the St. Louis area. Let’s get your home back to normal, safely, quickly, and professionally.

It depends on the issue. A tripped breaker that resets cleanly is usually a quick visit. A short on a branch circuit takes more time to trace, isolate, and repair. A burned panel busbar or a damaged service entrance is a larger job, and may require coordination with Ameren Missouri to pull and re-set the meter. We will provide a clear written estimate after diagnosing the problem so you know the scope before we start.

Resetting a tripped breaker once is fine. Any homeowner can flip the breaker back to ON and see if it stays. If it trips again right away, stop. That tells you there's a real fault on the circuit (a short, a ground fault, or an overloaded circuit) and the next step is a licensed electrician. Opening a panel, working in a meter base, or troubleshooting the service entrance yourself is dangerous and is not something we recommend even for experienced DIYers. If you smell burning, see visible damage, or hear arcing, exit the home and call emergency services first, then call us.

Turn off major appliances at the wall switch and at the breaker if you can identify the circuit, unplug sensitive electronics (computers, TVs, gaming consoles, anything with a circuit board) to protect them from a surge when power comes back, and avoid using water near exposed wiring. If there is a burning smell, visible damage on a panel or outlet, or audible arcing, exit the home and call emergency services first, then call us. If anyone in the home is on medical equipment that requires constant power, that is the conversation to have with us first when you call so we can prioritize.
