Outdoor lighting does three things at once: it makes the house easier to walk up to at night, it makes the yard look intentional, and it stops the porch from feeling like a black hole at 6 pm in January. We install outdoor lighting across the St. Louis metro on permit, on a dedicated 120V circuit, with photocell or timer control wired in so the lights come on at dusk and shut off without anybody touching a switch.
Common outdoor lighting projects we install:
Every install meets National Electrical Code (NEC) standards with weather-rated boxes and GFCI protection on outdoor circuits. One-year written labor warranty. For ENERGY STAR LED guidance, see EnergyStar.gov.

A simple swap (replacing an existing porch light or sconce) is usually a quick job. A multi-fixture install with a new circuit, photocell control, and trenching for a path-light run is a bigger project, scoped depending on the layout.
Single-fixture swaps are a quick, straightforward job. A multi-fixture install with a new circuit, a photocell, and a trenched path-light run is a larger project, scoped on the written estimate before the work starts.

Came to the house right on time for the appointment. It did not take long to get someone to come over just a couple days for a nonemergency request. Pricing was very reasonablePosted on Google Brendan JamesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent job!!Posted on Google Mary WeinmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Beyond impressed and satisfied with Kay Bee Electric! They were kind, efficient, quick, knowledgeable, trustworthy and did a fantastic job. Corrected the issue without trying to sell us on much more costly work another company had insisted we “had to have” at the cost of thousands of dollars and Kay Bee fixed the issue to code for under $300. HIGHLY recommend!Posted on Google Rebecca CaldwellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have used Kay Bee three different times and all have been great! We have had a variety of jobs done; total replacement of electrical panel to upgrade it, moved an electrical outlet to higher in the wall for tv, replaced four lights with wafer lighting, and updated all electrical boxes on our main floor). They take care of you in a couple of days and offer a good price. They brought all materials needed, and when I added more tasks, Scott called the main office and had the supplies delivered that day so he could complete the job. You can trust them to take care of you without killing the bank account. This last time, Scott came out and he did a super job. He has worked for the company for over 20 years, that says something about the company.

Single-fixture swaps usually share the existing porch-light circuit. Multi-fixture installs (path lights along the walkway, accent lights on trees, a new spot for a deck pergola) get a new dedicated 15A or 20A circuit pulled from the panel, on a photocell. That way the whole system comes on at dusk without separate switches in the house.
Three options. A photocell (sensor that turns on at dusk, off at dawn) is the simplest and the cheapest. A timer gives you on-off control by time of day. A smart switch (Lutron Caseta, Leviton Decora Smart) pairs with the app on your phone and lets you set schedules from the couch. We wire all three. Most homeowners go with a photocell on the path lights and a smart switch on the deck circuit.
Yes, and it is one of the easiest installs we run. A switched, weather-rated outdoor outlet on the front of the house, wired to a switch in the entry closet, so you flip the Christmas lights on and off without running an extension cord through the front door. Most installs finish in under 2 hours.
