When it comes to powering your property safely and efficiently, you need more than just a quick fix. You need a complete electrical design and build service. Whether you’re constructing a new building, putting up a luxury addition, or planning a commercial ground-up, our licensed team delivers smart, code-compliant electrical solutions from start to finish. We proudly serve homeowners, builders, and business owners across St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, and the surrounding areas.
Electrical design and build is a full-service approach to electrical construction. Instead of hiring multiple contractors, our team handles every phase of your project:
Here’s why homeowners, builders, and commercial clients trust us with their electrical build-outs. One licensed team handles design and build, which means a single point of accountability when the framing inspector finds something unexpected, the architect changes the kitchen layout, or the owner decides to add a generator after the slab is poured. Learn more about residential and commercial code requirements at NFPA.org.

We work closely with general contractors, builders, architects, and property owners to deliver reliable results on time and on budget. We can engage at any phase of your project. Early at schematic design when load forecasts and panel location still drive framing decisions, mid-project at design development when the construction documents need engineered single-line diagrams and panel schedules, or late at construction when the bid set is already out and you need a sub who can field-coordinate cleanly.
Let’s make your electrical system smarter, safer, and built to last. Whether you’re planning a new build, putting up a luxury addition, or rolling out a commercial fit-out, our professional electricians are here to help. Discover how seamless your electrical design and build project can be when one licensed team owns it from schematic through final inspection. For projects that need a heavy generator package, see our Backup Power page. For commercial ground-up scope, see Commercial Services.

Came to the house right on time for the appointment. It did not take long to get someone to come over just a couple days for a nonemergency request. Pricing was very reasonablePosted on Google Brendan JamesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent job!!Posted on Google Mary WeinmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Beyond impressed and satisfied with Kay Bee Electric! They were kind, efficient, quick, knowledgeable, trustworthy and did a fantastic job. Corrected the issue without trying to sell us on much more costly work another company had insisted we “had to have” at the cost of thousands of dollars and Kay Bee fixed the issue to code for under $300. HIGHLY recommend!Posted on Google Rebecca CaldwellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have used Kay Bee three different times and all have been great! We have had a variety of jobs done; total replacement of electrical panel to upgrade it, moved an electrical outlet to higher in the wall for tv, replaced four lights with wafer lighting, and updated all electrical boxes on our main floor). They take care of you in a couple of days and offer a good price. They brought all materials needed, and when I added more tasks, Scott called the main office and had the supplies delivered that day so he could complete the job. You can trust them to take care of you without killing the bank account. This last time, Scott came out and he did a super job. He has worked for the company for over 20 years, that says something about the company.
Ready to power your project? Call (314) 837-3308 or book online to schedule a design-build consultation. We can engage at schematic, design development, or bid phase across St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County.
Traditional electrical contracting follows the design-bid-build path. The architect or engineer produces a full electrical drawing set, the drawings go out to bid, and the lowest bidder executes the work as drawn. Design-build collapses those steps. We engage at the design phase with the architect (or directly with the owner) and carry the project all the way through permit, install, inspection, and commissioning. The advantages on most projects are a single point of accountability, faster timeline because design and build overlap instead of sequencing, and earlier cost certainty because we can value-engineer at the design phase before the drawings are frozen.
Yes. We specialize in both residential and commercial electrical systems and tailor every project to the space and the client. On the residential side that means luxury additions, custom new builds, and whole-home rewires, often with smart-home integration (Lutron RadioRA, Crestron, Control4) and generator paralleling. On the commercial side that means ground-up retail, restaurant, office, and light industrial buildings with utility coordination through Ameren Missouri, plan review through the local AHJ, and final commissioning on the building automation tie-in.
