If you searched “light fixture repair near me” and landed here, here’s the honest answer. We don’t do light fixture repairs at Kay-Bee. We do replacements. Modern fixtures are built differently than they were twenty years ago. Integrated LED fixtures have sealed drivers you can’t service. Decorative chandeliers and pendants often cost less new than a service call plus a socket. For most fixtures we see, replacement is cleaner, faster, and ends up about the same money.
When repair can still make sense (and when it doesn’t):
A new flush mount starts around $40 at Lowes. A decent chandelier or pendant starts around $150. The install labor is the same whether the fixture is new or fifteen years old. By the time you pay for a diagnostic, a socket, and the labor to install the part, you’re past the cost of a fresh fixture with a fresh manufacturer warranty. For ENERGY STAR LED guidance, see EnergyStar.gov.

A fixture replacement is straightforward. We take the old fixture down, check the existing wiring and the ceiling box, and put the new one up. Larger jobs, a kitchen package of recessed cans, a chandelier on a two-story foyer, a full bath vanity bar, take longer and sometimes need a second electrician for the ladder work.
Here’s what’s different from a brand-new install:
If you bring the new fixture, we install it. If you want a recommendation, we will source one for you. Your choice on budget and look. The install labor is the same either way.
The install labor is a flat approach regardless of fixture type. A kitchen package of 6 to 12 recessed cans or a two-story foyer chandelier on a vaulted ceiling takes longer and requires a second electrician on the ladder for safety.

Came to the house right on time for the appointment. It did not take long to get someone to come over just a couple days for a nonemergency request. Pricing was very reasonablePosted on Google Brendan JamesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent job!!Posted on Google Mary WeinmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Beyond impressed and satisfied with Kay Bee Electric! They were kind, efficient, quick, knowledgeable, trustworthy and did a fantastic job. Corrected the issue without trying to sell us on much more costly work another company had insisted we “had to have” at the cost of thousands of dollars and Kay Bee fixed the issue to code for under $300. HIGHLY recommend!Posted on Google Rebecca CaldwellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have used Kay Bee three different times and all have been great! We have had a variety of jobs done; total replacement of electrical panel to upgrade it, moved an electrical outlet to higher in the wall for tv, replaced four lights with wafer lighting, and updated all electrical boxes on our main floor). They take care of you in a couple of days and offer a good price. They brought all materials needed, and when I added more tasks, Scott called the main office and had the supplies delivered that day so he could complete the job. You can trust them to take care of you without killing the bank account. This last time, Scott came out and he did a super job. He has worked for the company for over 20 years, that says something about the company.

Most fixture repairs aren't worth it for the homeowner. By the time you pay for the diagnostic, the part, and the labor to install it, you're past the cost of a fresh fixture with a fresh manufacturer warranty. Integrated LED fixtures (the most common style on new construction since about 2015) have sealed drivers we can't service at all. The whole fixture has to come down. For decorative high-end fixtures under five years old (Visual Comfort, Hudson Valley, Hubbardton Forge, Arteriors), call us before you buy a replacement. Those are usually worth saving.
The fixture you buy — the install labor is the same flat approach regardless of fixture type. Larger jobs, like a kitchen package of recessed cans or a two-story foyer chandelier on a vaulted ceiling, may require a second electrician on the ladder for safety.
Skip the diagnostic. For most fixtures more than 5 years old or any integrated LED fixture, replacement is the answer. If it's a high-end decorative fixture under five years old, call us before you buy a new one. Those usually have replaceable parts and the original fixture is worth saving. For everything else, pick a new fixture and we'll handle the swap.
